Iulius Dorian Savin
As an ex-freshman and second year student at "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, I can tell that the first year of college represented for me both a road full of opportunities and a wide-open door for my dreams. Teachers"™ good preparation and the challenging subjects undoubtedly succeeded in creating a favorable educational background for us as students.
Economic Students"™ Club or better said CSE, the organisation where I activate as president of the scientific-cultural department, has played a major role in my evolution as a future economist. It is true that grades from faculty have their importance, but I also believe that extracurricular activities are the ones that really define us. CSE not only deals with students"™ issues and gets on the inside of economic changes, but it also offers us the opportunity to meet famous people from economic backgrounds and it determines us to initiate projects like: DocExpert, B.S.M. (Be a Smart Manager), CSE Grant. On the humanitarian side, we even manage to put a smile on the face of those disadvantaged people in projects like: One Christmas soul, Happy Easter.
The ones who say high school was the best time of their life, they certainly did not live studentship as they should have.
It is amazing to see that taking the chances ULBS gives to me, I succeed in bringing plus-value to my theoretical and practical knowledge and to my educational evolution at the same time. There are two international projects of great importance I attended which determined me not to put a limit to my dreams. "21st International Economic Conference "“ IECS 2014" and "The Knowledge-based Green Economy: challenges, constraints and opportunities" were the programmes where I had the great opportunity to meet remarkable teachers and students, to bound friendships without personal interests, we did the cultural exchange but most important, we shared ideas. George Bernard Shaw said "œIf you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas".
Being guided and supported by my teachers and colleagues from superior years, I applied for an ERASMUS+ grant and now I have the ripe opportunity to study at University College Ghent, "Faculty of Business & Information Management", Belgium, during 2014-2015 academic year. I honestly believe this chance will consolidate my knowledge and it will undoubtedly open new horizons for me, that is why I think every student must take into consideration a future ERASMUS+ application.
If I were to sum up in a single phrase what I have learned during the first academic year, it would sound like this: "œFaculty taught me to work hard and ask for opportunities". It is said that universe gives only to those who ask for them, and to those who do not, it gives only what is left.
